Drummer GENE HOGLAN Will Not Be Touring With FEAR FACTORY This Spring
March 9, 2012Legendary extreme-metal drummer Gene Hoglan (TESTAMENT, DARK ANGEL, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, FEAR FACTORY, DETHKLOK) will not be sitting behind the kit for FEAR FACTORY when the Los Angeles cyber metal band hits the road at the end of April in support of its upcoming CD, "The Industrialist". Hoglan says, "I'm sure whomever they get [to play the drums on the run] is gonna kick some ass, absolutely! I'd like to wish them the best on the tour, and I'm sure everyone's gonna make out just fine."
FEAR FACTORY's most recent touring lineup featured original FF members Dino Cazares (guitar) and Burton C. Bell (vocals) alongside bassist Byron Stroud (who was credited on the last three FEAR FACTORY albums in addition to touring and recording with STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and ZIMMERS HOLE) and Hoglan.
FEAR FACTORY recently enlisted Matt DeVries as the band's new bass player. DeVries, previously of CHIMAIRA (where he played guitar) and most recently SIX FEET UNDER, joined FEAR FACTORY as the replacement for Stroud (now with 3 INCHES OF BLOOD).
Hoglan pulled double duty on the TESTAMENT/ANTHRAX/DEATH ANGEL tour last month, filling in for ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante while also doing a full set with TESTAMENT. The ANTHRAX drummer had to take a short leave from the tour to be with his mother who was terminally ill. On February 4, Benante informed fans via his official web site that his mother passed away.
Candlelight Records has set a June 5 North American release date for "The Industrialist". Produced by the band with Rhys Fulber (FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY),the CD was mixed by Greg Reely (PARADISE LOST, SKINNY PUPPY, MACHINE HEAD). It features additional tracking by Logan Mader (GOJIRA, DIVINE HERESY, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH) and artwork by Anthony Clarkson (DEVIN TOWNSEND).
